On the one hand globalisation helped to solve many problems but on the other it created the new ones and at the same time fueled the old ones such as human trafficking. In Indonesia human trafficking is a very serious issue and more attention have to be paid because of the fact that this problem became worse under globalisation because of increased communication between countries from different parts of the world. In case of human trafficking in Indonesia, human traffickers are winners of globalisation simply because of the fact that now they have more opportunities to develop their business as more ways of making their business is possible under globalisation. The level of trade and communication between countries is increasing from year to year which allows human traffickers to have more potential clients from different parts of the world.
Many women, children and men are subjected to sex trafficking and forced labour in Indonesia. All of Indonesia’s 33 provinces more or less contribute to a human trafficking business. The most significant areas where human trafficking is developed are provinces such as West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara. The business of human traffickers is flourishing because of high interest in women, children and men from Indonesia from many other countries such as Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore and Malaysia. The lack of political will, police involvement and poverty made it easier for human traffickers to force people to do this. Furthermore, the business of human traffickers is flourishing because of the fact that people have more opportunities to go abroad and try to earn money in other countries. Globalisation made it easier to do it therefore more people are potential victims of this business. Globalisation allows human traffickers to communicate with each other more effectively and it helps them to build the international system of human trafficking. As a result, people who do not have stable job become more vulnerable when they go abroad because of the effective international system of human trafficking which is based on communication between traffickers from different countries.
